Crook Hall and Gardens

When my plans changed and I found myself with a day off, I knew I needed to make the most of it.  We toyed with a few ideas before my Nana and I hopped on the train for a day in Durham. First on our list was a visit to Crook Hall and Gardens.

I’ve never been before and was a little worried about finding it. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how close it is to the city centre! Just follow the river along and you will find it.

Since we arrived on a Thursday, the hall itself was closed. (They close it Thursday-Saturday for weddings, which we didn’t know). Swallowing our disappointment, we took a wander through the gardens. They were absolutely stunning. I could try and describe it but I don’t think I could do it justice so I’ll let the photos do the talking.

After a good old look at the breathtaking flowers, it was time for a cake break. While Nana went for a scone, I chose the chocolate orange cake which was mahoosive. It was a little dry but had delicious frosting on it.

I think I’ll be coming back to Crook Hall again! Though next time, I’ll double check if the hall is open first.
