Exploring New Genres

A very exciting post for me today because I am taking part in a blog hop! If that sentence has filled you with confusion, don’t worry. An explanation is incoming.

Myself and some fellow book bloggers have decided to team up and challenge ourselves to do something a little bit different. We’ve decided to encourage each other (and hold ourselves publically accountable) to trying a genre outside of our reading comfort zones. It is certainly easy enough to stay within one or two genres when readings and I am certainly guilty of not mixing it up very often. We’ve each decided one genre that we would like to try and picked a book from that genre.

I’ve picked romance, as it is not something that I really read. I certainly used to, quite a few years ago but I honestly can’t remember the last time that I picked up a romance book just because. I’ve decided to read Wilde Like Me, a book that has been on my radar for a while. According to Goodreads, it not only counts as romance but also as contemporary and women’s fiction. I don’t tend to reach for them very often either! I will be reading Wilde Like Me over the next few weeks and will share my review in a second Exploring New Genres post as soon as I can.

Now for the blog hop part. Like I mentioned, I’m not doing this challenge independently. There are other bloggers involved and I would love it if you could pop by their blogs to wish them luck as well! They’re all doing other genres as well, so if romance isn’t your cup of tea, then they may have a review that you love!

Wish me luck!

  1. So excited to be taking part in this with you all! I hope you enjoy Wilde Like Me. I love Louise Pentland’s YouTube channel and I’m not much of a romance reader either so I’m excited to hear your thoughts. xx

  2. I don’t often read a lot of romance novels, however I have started to pick up more of late – although what I would think of as unconventional romance, one such title being Together by Julie Cohen – I read this over the summer and fell in love (no pun intended) with the story.

I hope you enjoy this book – I’ve heard mixed things. Happy reading!
