Unboxing October’s Books That Matter

After falling in love with the Wildest Dreams Book Box, I’ve been toying with the idea of trying another one. I loved FairyLoot but it’s just that touch too expensive to be a regular treat for me so I decide to do some research elsewhere. I heard about Books That Matter and after a quick google, I knew it was something I was interested in.

Pitched as a book subscription box to “empower and inspire”, Books That Matter is just £12 a month, plus postage. Each month you receive a book and at least one gift from an independent company. The book is chosen to inspire or make you think, and will feature a diverse range of topics and authors. I was certainly intrigued!

October’s box was centred around Black History Month and contained a wonderfully packaged selection of goodies. The first thing I saw was the book, which was Esi Edugyan’s Washington Black. This follows a young slave who is working on a sugar plantation in Barbados, thought the novel travels to many other locations and themes. I hadn’t heard of this book before picking up Books That Matter but it is a book I am genuinely excited to read as soon as I can.

Inside the box, we also had a Black History Month poster, a badge by London artist Nyanza D (which is lovely!) and two products from Red Bear Universe. We were lucky enough to receive a sticker and a keyring. The keyring is absolutely beautiful!

I am so impressed with my first box from Books That Matter. It is an affordable away to be introduced to new authors, artists and topics than I would usually encounter. Plus, the quality is fantastic.

I will definitely be ordering this again!
