Afternoon Tea at Dr.Inks

There’s just something about afternoon tea, isn’t there? It just feels so self indulgent and is one of the ultimate pick me ups in life!

Since I enjoy it so much, it’s probably no surprise that I was desperate to go for it now that things are opening back up. I offered to treat my mum and set to finding an afternoon tea in Darlington town centre. I stumbled upon Dr. Inks and, being a big fan of their cocktails decided to book us in.

I was not disappointed.

We decided on the cocktail afternoon tea which is £15.95 a person (you pay a £5 deposit per person but that’s included in the price). They also do a version with tea/coffee, a bottomless Prosecco deal and are just launching a G&T option so there’s plenty of choice for you. As I mentioned, you do have to pay a deposit and you will need to book with at least 24 hours notice but it was super simple – I just gave them a ring!

Included in the price was a cocktail each (I went for the Coco Chanel and would HIGHLY recommend it) and the afternoon tea itself.

As you can see, they’re not stingy with the food at all. We each had two finger sandwiches, a pork pie, a wrap, a fruit scone (with jam and cream, of course, a macaron, a cornflake tart, a millionaire’s shortbread and a strawberry tart! It was quite the feast!

As you’ve probably guessed by now, I have a major sweet tooth and the top tier was definitely my favourite. The little cornflake tarts were lush – I could have happily eaten quite a few more!

Our experience was also helped by the fact that we had wonderful staff who were friendly and helpful, even with the new social distancing measures. They definitely made it a positive experience.

Overall, I would really recommend this afternoon tea. It’s particularly good if you both want a drink as the town centre location means you don’t have to drive out to one of the big country hotels for a quality afternoon tea. I definitely think I’ll be back again! Who wants to join me?
