To kick off Dad’s birthday in style, we decided to have breakfast out in town. After a quick google, we decided on Houndgate Townhouse, a relatively new hotel which had a very appealing menu.
The birthday boy went for a full English with extra bacon, while my momma had French Toast with maple syrup and bacon, both of which were beautiful. (I may or may not have sneaked a mouthful of each when they were distracted).
Following some serious eating over Christmas, I went for the slightly lighter option of yoghurt and granola which was just as beautiful. Nana seemed to have the same idea as I did and went for the fresh fruit platter.
The only problem was that the restaurant was almost too quiet. The food was amazing, the service was good, and the decor was lovely but there was something not quite right about it. Perhaps it was the atmosphere but all I know is that they haven’t quite got it all sorted yet.
I can only hope they sort it out soon as I want to be back soon, probably for lunch or dinner if there menu is as scrumptious as it looked online!

Glad to hear it! Let me know what you think! x
I wouldn’t know what to order – All of those breakfasts look fantastic! Wonder if a portion of granola with a side of french toast and extra bacon would be acceptable? Thanks for linking to #LoveNorthEast
Definitely! Or just visit several times haha! x
