Since I moved back to the north east, I have been desperate to go to the Tea House in Middlesbrough. I follow them on Instagram and their cakes always look delicious. The only problem is that it has taken me waaaay too long to visit.
Last weekend, I finally rectified that. One of my very good friends now lives in Middlesbrough and so when we made plans to get together, I suggested we checked out the Tea House. It’s nice and central (and way easier to find than I thought it would be) so it was ideal. Now that we’ve been once, I’m hoping it becomes our regular haunt as I really enjoyed it.
I had a Nutella hot chocolate to drink and that it is a big part of why I want it to become our regular haunt, if I’m being perfectly honest.
To start with, we went savoury. Amy and Sam both got sandwiches (coronation chicken for Sam and gammon for Amy). I chose the smashed avocado and feta on toast instead and it was absolutely lovely. It was all super inexpensive too, so I would definitely come back again. I was also impressed by how vocal the menu was about alternative options for those with food intolerances or special requests.
We had a brief pause before we prepared ourselves for the next round. We couldn’t exactly go to the Tea House and not have desserts could we?
Amy and Sam went for scones which they were very complimentary about. Having a seriously sweet tooth, I went for the Crunchie chocolate cake. It. Was. Divine. Seriously, you should try it if you’re in Middlesbrough.
With such good food and hot chocolate, I hope the Tea House will be a place I visited a lot now that I am back in the north east for a while.
