December 2017

When I think about December, I feel a little conflicted. It was a strange mixture between some of the most stressful times of my life and some of the loveliest. Work got more than a little crazier and I was definitely struggling to keep going before I finished for the holidays. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my job but I had burnt through my energy and then my reserves and spent the last couple of days on little more than fumes. I’m looking forward to fixing that now that I have the chance to take some time off. In fact in the run up to Christmas, I did as little as I reasonably could. No work, no writing, no blogging… Just the chance to relax and recharge. It was very much needed!

With all that in mind, December was also packed with some lovely, quieter moments. I spent time with my friends and family, doing not very much but loving it all the same. I did my best to get in the Christmas spirit and to get excited about that. I was even invited to Grainger Market in Newcastle to celebrate with them and had an absolutely amazing time. I blogged about it, which you can read here if you so wish. It helped to get me in the festive spirit and I really hope that I can go again next year. I then had a great Christmas itself, which was brilliantly laidback. It was full of laughter and good food – what more do you need at Christmas? The lovely, thoughtful presents were also greatly appreciated, mind you.

December also saw me doing a little bit of travel. I popped down to London to see Sam and surprised her with a day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon. I decided not to blog about it because I wanted to focus on the day itself instead but I had so much fun exploring somewhere new with my best friend. Can we have more cute day trips soon please?

I posted a whole heap of gift guides this year, which I’m really proud of. They range from accessories, where I was lucky enough to partner up with LOTD, to bookish merch ideas and even a list of book recommendations themselves. They always take a lot of planning and work so I’m glad that paid off. You can find them all here:

Whether you want a head start on next year’s shopping or have some birthdays coming up to shop for, I hope you find them useful.

Other favourite posts this year include some of my book reviews and a guest post, which I’ll link below:

A busy month indeed! I actually upped the number of posts that I shared in December. Usually I post three times a week ( Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) but this month I pushed myself to post five times every week. Putting out content daily Monday to Friday was a challenge but I’m so glad that I did it. I have so many posts to look back on now and hopefully you enjoyed the content too. Now it is time to think about what I want to put out on the old internet in 2018, which is a terrifying and exciting thought all at once!

I hope you enjoyed December,

Kelly x
