10 out of the 12 months of 2017 are done?
Scary that, isn’t it?
When 2017 started, my aim for the year was to graduate with a degree I could proud of. In June, I achieved that but the year didn’t stop there. This month has had a nice balance to it: my work as a cover teacher and tutor picked up AND I got to do some travelling. This time, I headed to Greece to see some of the classical temple sites and I had the best time. I’ve written a whole post about it which goes live on Monday so keep your eyes peeled for it!
It did make for a bit of a manic month for me as I had to get all of my blog posts scheduled in advance, as well as picking up some extra work just before I left. It was a nice little reminder in the importance of time management and multitasking though!
It also meant that I missed some of my creative writing and French classes, so I had plenty of catching up to do for that. We’re gearing up for a final piece in creative writing at the moment so I actually wrote a lot of the first draft for that while sat on a balcony in Nafplion -there are worse ways to work on a short story! I feel like I was losing my writing mojo for a little while there but going away gave me the little spark of motivation I need. I have loads of ideas that I just need to find a way to work into my projects now. Easier said than done, I’m sure.
I also can’t write this post without mentioning how good October was for reading. I read around 15 books this month alone, most of which I have reviewed for This Northern Gal or Blogger’s Bookshelf. I intend to share a picture of all the books I have read each month on Instagram so head over there for a look at what I’ve been reading in October.
After such a good reading month, I have so many reviews waiting to share with you all that I think I might bump up the number of posts I share each week in December. I’m not quite ready to commit to Blogmas (especially after attempting NaNoWriMo in November) but I think I might post five times a week. It will be a mixture of festive content and the things you usually see on This Northern Gal, such as events, food and books. I’m planning it all out at the moment and starting to draft posts so if there is anything you want to see on This Northern Gal in December or beyond, let me know in the comments or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
October was a great month blog-wise and I’m really proud of some of the posts I shared with you all this month. I’ve wrapped up a couple of my favourites below so check them out if you missed them!
- City of Circles Review
- Book Buying Ban Update
- Decorating Tips
- The Last Namsara Review
- Tips for Going on a Cruise for the First Time
I’ve got some exciting things planned for November, for the blog and IRL as well so I’m looking forward to the next month, even if it is going to be REALLY busy!
