Book Haul #14

It’s been a while but it’s time for another book haul! It’s a respectable amount this time, rather than a large amount but I am really excited about them all!

Would you like to see what I got?

1. Love at first stitch by Tilly Waines. As some of you may know, I was very lucky to receive a sewing machine for Christmas. I have NO idea what I’m doing since I haven’t used a sewing machine since Year 8 but I’m so excited to learn how to use this. Lots of people recommended Tilly and the Buttons for beginners so I picked up this book as a starting point! I’ve not made anything from it yet but I have read it and I can tell that’s it going to be really useful.

2. The Wild Silence by Raynor Winn. I received this beautiful book as a Christmas present and I’m so excited to pick it up properly. It seems like it is both write up my street and something I probably wouldn’t have picked up in a bookstore so I’m very excited about it!

3. The Sisters Grimm by Menna Van Praag. This is another book that I didn’t pick but that I’m VERY excited about it. I received this as part of the Graduate BookClub Christmas book exchange and it sounds right up my street!

4. Poems to Save the World With by Chris Riddell. I loved the first poetry collection by Chris Riddell so I was beyond excited to see this beneath the tree. It’s a collection from different poets that has then been illustrated by Chris Riddell, to beautiful effect. What I really love about this is the way it introduces me to new-to-me writers too. I definitely recommend this one.

5. The Babysitter by Phoebe Morgan. I picked this up for a book club I’m taking part in the year. It’s a thriller which isn’t my usual cup of tea but that’s the joy of book clubs right? I’ve already read this: it’s good but not great in my opinion!

6. Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harani. Another book club pick (different book club) and another book outside of my usual remit. I’m a little intimidated by this one, I won’t lie!

7.Bridgerton: The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. I had to, ok , I had to. And yes, I’ve watched the Netflix series. And yes, you should too!

And there we have it! Have you read any of these? What did you think of them?
