Anyone who knows Darlington knows all about Bambudda. It is one of the most hyped places in town and has been for a little while. Which is probably why I’ve been reluctant to try it – I was worried it would not live up to its formidable reputation.
This was a foolish concern.
Recently, my friends and I decided to try out the ‘All You Can Eat’ menu for ourselves. At £17.99, it’s a little more expensive than most all you can eat buffets but it is definitely worth it.
You see, the buffet menu works a little differently at Bambudda: you order the dishes you want and it is made fresh. I was a little sceptical as to how this would work but it was such a good system. You order 2-3 dishes at a time, they arrive quickly and then staff check in to see if you would like anything else. The food is fresh and prompt plus you don’t have any wasted or lukewarm food. It’s the best of both worlds.
There is also a wide range of dishes to choose from so there is plenty to try! Personally, I liked using this way of doing things because I could try lots of different things that I wouldn’t normally choose. The dishes are smaller than a main would be so you can comfortably try quite a few different items. Think of Tapas sized portions but with Chinese food!
My personal favourites were probably the dumplings or the Crispy Beef but there wasn’t anything that I didn’t enjoy, if I’m honest.
The staff were also brilliant. Not only were they friendly and attentive but they were also willing to give recommendations from the menu and helped us to pick some new things to try.
The only disappointment was that I didn’t get to try the cocktails on this occasion as they looked completely and utterly incredible. I guess I will just have to go again soon and try the drinks next time I’m in. I’m more than happy to take on that task..
Somehow, I don’t think it will be long until I’m back in Bambudda again!
